Create Margin

Join me on my relentless pursuit to be more, do more, and live an unreasonable life.

I knew something was off when I couldn’t keep up with basic things at home.

Not big failures. Small ones.

Half-finished projects. Missed "honey-do" items. Conversations with my wife that made me realize I didn’t have the space to show up the way I should — in the relationship that matters most after God.

I have a margin/priorities problem.

When Margin Disappears

Lately, I’ve felt it most in time and mental load.

Too many open loops at work.

Too many unfinished thoughts.

Not enough space to be fully present at home.

And when margin disappears, here’s what happens for me:

  • I feel constantly behind

  • I carry work into family time

  • I get short with my kids

  • I move through the day mentally and physically drained

That’s not who I want to be.

What Margin Means Right Now

In this season, margin doesn’t mean luxury.

It means:

  • Being with my family without being preoccupied

  • Having evenings without a running to-do list in my head

  • Waking up without already feeling behind

Honestly?

Having no immediate commitments and no urgent plan sounds like heaven right now.

High Performers Drift Here Quietly

If you’re driven, capable, and ambitious, this sneaks up on you.

You keep saying yes.

You keep stacking responsibilities.

You tell yourself it’s temporary.

Until one day you realize:

You’ve optimized for output — and sacrificed presence.

One Small Shift

I don’t have some perfect system.

Right now, I’m starting with something simple:

Saying no to new commitments.

Not forever.

Just long enough to start creating space.

Because margin doesn’t magically appear.

You have to protect it.

The Takeaway

Margin allows you to show up fully for the people who matter most.

If you feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or constantly behind — don’t ask how to do more.

Ask what you need to remove.

What’s one thing you could cut this week to create space where it matters most?

Don’t settle. Be relentless.
