80% Plan

Join me on my relentless pursuit to be more, do more, and live an unreasonable life.
Mike Tyson once said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.”
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.
The Army was the enemy gets a vote.
No matter how well you plan, something outside your control will change the equation.
Why 100% Plans Fail
I was taught as a youn Army Officer to build 80% solutions.
Not a rigid, perfectly polished 100% plan — but one intentionally designed with space to adapt.
Why?
Because weather changes. The enemy moves. Intel was wrong.
If your plan requires perfect conditions, it will collapse the moment circumstances change.
Adaptability > Perfection
I’ve spent plenty of time chasing perfection.
What I’m learning is this:
Perfection is unattainable.
Adaptability and resilience are essential.
I was reminded of this reading Who Moved My Cheese? last weekend. It’s a simple story with a hard truth:
Change is inevitable.
If we refuse to adapt, we will fall behind.
The Real Question
Where in your life are you waiting for conditions to be perfect?
Where are you clinging to the original plan instead of adjusting to reality?
Build your life with room to adapt.
Don’t settle. Be relentless.
